THE MURDER CITY DEVILS are getting back together for a west coast tour in February!!

Holy fuck am i stoked for this one..This band always made me feel so dangerous.

They completely transformed Seattle when i was coming up. Everyone died their hair black, and wore tons of denim...it seriously looked like the streets of Capitol Hill were taken over by a violent street gang.

Thorns of Life.

Blake Schwarzenbach and Aaron Cometbus have started a new band.

They play house shows in Brooklyn, and they are amazing...duh.

Blake says: “I can say only that it’s loud and tender and we’re called the Thorns Of Life. whether it’s more Jetsesque or Breaker-like I honestly don’t know; It sounds like a storehouse of fond hatred from the last few years and in the now.”

I'm speechless and on the verge of tears...

Thank you.

Well, i saw the show of my life the other night. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds played the Hollywood Bowl with Spiritualized and Cat Power, WOW!!!

I have been waiting a long long time to see Nick Cave live and let me tell you it was well worth the wait. He has to be one of the best showmen of all time, if not just the best dressed (i would kill for suits like his). When he closed the night with "Stagger Lee", i thought the place was going to riot...or maybe that was just me.

Here is the set list...goddamn amazing.

"Its like a really bad Disney movie."

http://womenagainstsarahpalin. blogspot. com/

What is remarkable to me about Sarah Palin is that she seems to have no awareness that feminists of previous generations are what have made it possible for her to present her unwed, pregnant daughter without any public shame. As few as thirty years ago, Bristol would have been shipped off to have her baby in private and the child would have been put up for adoption. Because of Roe v. Wade feminists, unmarried women can now have children free from the shame of previous generations. Every generation of feminists has a burden or hurdle to overcome. Seventeen years ago Susan Faludi coined the term "backlash", but at this moment we are experiencing something infinitely worse: it's more like "whiplash". The powerful discrepancy between the image of a woman and what that woman represents is going to result in a dangerous election for all women.

–Jana H., St.
Louis, MO

When I hear women declaring that electing Sarah Palin as VP would be a gain for women, I am amazed and heartsick. Having our hard-won rights squelched by men would be bad enough, but how much more galling and tragic to lose them because of a woman. Sarah Palin would hurt women, on a large scale. And when women are hurt, their children usually hurt, too. Palin is another Republican theocrat pretending to be a libertarian. Her pretty smile belies the fact that she is very, very dangerous.

Cru Jones Vs. Hollywood Mike Miranda

When i was wrapping up high school, Dylan and I started a thrash band...This band was all about tearing it up, getting people moving, and really causing as much trouble as we could. Our shows got pretty out of control, sometimes violent, but they were alway fun...besides a few bruises and cuts never really hurt anyone.

This band was called Hollywood Mike Miranda, it was named after the pro BMX rider, Hollywood Mike Miranda, who races Helltrack in RAD, and wipes out 3-4 times. Dude is pretty much a tool, and was a total inspiration to our band. I found this interview with him (he comes on about halfway through the clip). Its funny we were really the antithesis of each other.

This is the best intro/outro to any movie ever...hands down...no question.
It is also from my personal favorite movie of all time. RAD. I have no idea just how many times i have watched this movie, hundreds? Thousands? It pretty much defined my entire childhood...my adolescence as well.

Long Live HMM.

I will be this many...

On September 2nd i will be turning 27. To celebrate i am having a birthday party this weekend. The party is going to be my (2)7th birthday party, this means that the party is going to be a party for a 7 year old. Filled with things that a 7 year old Southern Californian child would love.

A Clown
Face painting
Balloon Animals
Pinatas
Costumes
Games
Booze

and El Bronx playing Mariachi.

We tried to get a bounce house but our backyard isn't big enough (DAMN!)

Happy Birthday to me!

Dead Souls.

Ian Curtis' Gravestone Missing

"It's not really how we want to kick off our holiday weekend, but we just got the sad news that the gravestone of Joy Division's Ian Curtis has been stolen. The headstone simply read "Ian Curtis. 18-5-80. Love Will Tear Us Apart."

BBC Manchester reports that it was stolen from Macclesfield Cemetery sometime between Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning; and Chesire police are asking people to contact them if they have any information. You can do so here.

A police spokesperson told BBC "There is no CCTV in the area and there are no apparent leads as to who is responsible for the theft. This is a very unusual theft and I am confident that someone locally will have knowledge about who is responsible or where the memorial stone is at present."

So wonderfully wonderfully wonderfully pretty.

Tonight i am going to see the cure at the Hollywood Bowl.

It will be my first time ever seeing them.

They have been one of my favorite bands since forever...and responsible for most if not all of my many goth phases.

I had his haircut for a long time too...It won me "best hair" my senior year of high school.

Let's Get Started...aka homesick.

Saw this on Cali's blog today...and then went on to watch it prolly 10 times in as many minutes.

As i drive from NYC to Boston, i cant help but get homesick for summers past,

The Mosh Hogs Crew and melee shows in JP and Sommerville, road trips with Noogies and Boozy Mike...leaving on a whim with no real reason other than to just go, BKLYN rooftop bloodbath, and staying up to watch the sunrise

But at the same time i am excited for the summers of the future.

Los Angeles right now is a magical place filled with many amazing, talented, creative people....I am proud to call the city home and i can't wait get back.

Thanks to Cali for posing this on his forever inspiring blog, and thanks to the lovely people who made the film...you truly made my day.

We're Out For Blood.

Last nite Dylan, Zach, his boss Cheryl and her ladyfriend Audrey headed on a mission into the heart of Orange County, to see Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band play at the Honda center in Anaheim.

We all met up at the Arena at 3:45 to try and get pit passes (right up at the stage). The way it works is like this... everyone with general admission (floor) tickets shows up super early and is given a wristband with a number on it. Then at 5PM one of the numbers is called out, and that number becomes #1 the first 300 numbers after said number get into the pit. Well we our 5 numbers started at 490....and unfortunately the lucky number was 680 or something and there were a total of like 900 wristbands given out so we didn't get to touch Bruce or get sweat on or anything....but that most certainly did not stop us from having a great time.

WOW

Homeboy played for about three hours and was on for the whole show... here is the setlist.

Flex Yr Head.

R.I.P. Sean Finnegan, Drummer From Void

Man that is a bummer... here is what pitchfork has to say on the matter.

Sean Finnegan, drummer from Washington, D.C.-area hardcore band Void, passed away Wednesday, January 30 of an apparent heart attack, according to a press release. One of the first acts associated with Dischord Records, Void appeared on the label's 1982 Flex Your Head compilation. They made their proper debut with a 1982 LP split with fellow D.C. locals Faith.

Void parted ways in 1983. At the time of his death, Finnegan was working on the HBO television show "The Wire". He was 43 years old.
